About Dondreá Brown

Hi, I’m Dondreá Brown a Certified Financial Coach, Speaker, Author, Consultant, and CEO of the transformational nonprofit Young Money Finances. I’m passionate about helping individuals and families build financial foresight, the ability to plan, prepare for, and protect their financial future. My work is rooted in lived experience and a deep belief that access to knowledge, tools, and confidence can change the trajectory of a life.

I grew up in a single-parent household with five siblings and spent time in foster care, navigating instability while watching my mother work long hours and multiple jobs to ensure our needs were met. Those early experiences shaped my understanding of resilience, sacrifice, and the importance of financial stability. Like many, my own financial journey included hard lessons—I accumulated over $100,000 in student loan debt, maxed out credit cards on unnecessary purchases, and spent more than $20,000 on cars I no longer own. With more than $120,000 in debt, I felt overwhelmed and uncertain, but I made the decision to educate myself, set intentional goals, create a needs-based budget, pay down debt, and build an emergency fund. That process allowed me to save thousands of dollars, begin investing, and experience the financial freedom I once watched my mother strive for.

Since 2017, I’ve worked as a Certified Financial Coach and Consultant, supporting individuals, organizations, and communities through keynotes, workshops, coaching, and strategic consulting. As a national speaker and author, my approach blends practical financial tools with mindset, behavior change, and honest conversation, engaging both the head and the heart. Guided by Luke 14:28 and the reminder to always “count the cost,” my mission is clear: to equip people with the clarity, confidence, and resources they need to move forward with intention and become the last generation to start from scratch.
